The Jack in the Box at Cahuenga and Sunset that somehow survived for all these years is finally succumbing to Hollywood’s hotel boom. According to a preliminary study filed with the city planning department, the fast food joint will be replaced by a 21-story hotel tower with a rooftop pool, underground parking, and an Art Deco-inspired exterior, says Urbanize LA.

The 275-room hotel will be broken up into 142 suites, 132 regular rooms, and one two-bedroom suite. Each of them will have its own kitchenette. Hotel amenities will include an open-air garden terrace on the second floor and a rooftop pool and gym.

The parking for the hotel will be provided in four levels underground, for a total of 125 car spaces and 32 bike spots. There will also be 1,900 square feet of retail.

Ivar Gardens, as the project’s being called, is designed by the firm of Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, and it will feature several metal rooftop spires, decorative porcelain tiles along the ground floor, and some token palm trees along the sidewalk.

Developer RD Olson bought the Jack in the Box property for $13.8 million in December 2014, after what was reportedly a heated bidding war with several other prospective buyers. The Irvine-based company has a history of developing hotels for Marriott, though this hotel project doesn’t seem to have a chosen brand yet. Once construction starts, the project is anticipated to take about 22 months to complete, though there’s no stated start date.
